The 8th episode of the Aotearoa Independent Film Podcast is here!
In this episode I sat down with writer Mia Maramara.
Mia was one of the writers on the recent hit ‘Grafted’ which premiered at the New Zealand International Film Festival earlier this year.
Mia had some fantastic insight to share, discussing her journey from being a fan of horror films and comics in Manila, coming to New Zealand to study at South Seas, developing self funded shorts to practice her craft and slowly working her way thought larger and larger productions until meeting her production partner Hweiling Ow who she collaborated with to develop the Grafted script thought the NZFC funding system.
Mia’s story provides a great example for how aspiring writers and all filmmakers can approach the daunting task of developing their craft and building their careers.
You can find out more about Mia and keep up to date with news about her work on the official social media pages for MHM Productions the production company she operated with Heling and Morgan Leight Stewart.
As always, I would also like to extend a huge thank to Day One for very kindly stepping in with production support for the Aotearoa Independent film Podcast.
I wouldn’t have to able to do this Podcast without their help!
You can find out more about the fantastic work they do on their website:
