AIF Podcast - Ep #7 - Doug Dillaman

Filmmaker

The 7th episode of the Aotearoa Independent Film Podcast is here!

In this episode I sat down with filmmaker Doug Dillaman.

Doug has been working in the New Zealand Film and Television industry for many years after immigrating to New Zealand from the States and he shared some great insight into his perspective about the industry, both from the perspective of a working freelancer and as an independent creative making indie films.

Doug self funded his first feature 2014’s Jake, produced the experimental short documentary ‘You Could Have Seen the Mona Lisa’  which premiered at Doc Edge in 2021, and has not completed his new feature ‘Gut Instinct’, a mind bending mix of public domain footage, animation, and documentary style voice-over, wrapped up in narrative of alien microbes living in our guts and feeding off our Dopamine addictions.

‘Gut Instinct’ is in theaters in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch very soon as part of the Terror-Fi festival and will be expanding to other cinemas as part of an independent released organised by Doug.

You can buy tickets to Gut Instinct now via the link below:

As always, I would also like to extend a huge thank to Day One for very kindly stepping in with production support for the Aotearoa Independent film Podcast.
I wouldn’t have to able to do this Podcast without their help!
