The second episode of the Aotearoa Independent Film Podcast is here!
In this episode, I sat down with the director of 2022 NZIFF feature ‘Shut Eye’, Tom Levesque.
Tom and I talked about his journey: perusing the films at the local video rental shop as a kid, studying film production at university, his early independent production experience making short documentaries and early career setbacks in roles and environments that didn’t suit his unique style and vision.
We then talked about his journey to bring Shut Eye to life and the work Tom and his team have put in to show off the film at festivals worldwide and secure an amazing North American distribution deal.
We also discussed the importance of considering a production’s scale when approaching writing the script and the various ways that Tom has been able to simultaneously develop multiple projects in order to avoid stalling when the progress one creative venture slows down.In this episode, I sat down the the director of 2022 NZIFF feature ‘Shut Eye’, Tom Levesque.
